Aviagen Brazil Introduces Real-Time Chick Delivery Tracking

New solution gives customers greater visibility and confidence when receiving poultry grandparent and parent stock

CAMPINAS, Brazil – Aviagen® Latin America is introducing a new delivery monitoring system designed to give customers greater visibility and peace of mind when receiving poultry grandparent and parent stock. The solution allows real-time tracking of breeding chick shipments from the hatchery to the farm, helping producers prepare with greater confidence while supporting bird welfare.

Developed by the Aviagen Latin America Quality team and now in its final testing phase, the system will be implemented for 100% of deliveries starting in March 2026.

The initiative was led by Aviagen Latin America Quality Coordinator Ana Julia Dutkevicz in collaboration with Logistics Coordinator Alba Meiga, using Internet of Things (IoT) technology. The goal is to make deliveries more transparent, secure and easier for customers to plan.

Real-time tracking for poultry deliveries with easy access

The system becomes active as soon as the delivery truck leaves the hatchery. Customers receive a secure, individual link via WhatsApp that allows them to follow the truck’s route on a map and see live updates throughout the journey.

The same link enables the driver to upload travel documents and trip details, keeping everything in one place. With a single click on the truck icon, customers can view key information for farm planning, including order number, hatchery of origin, destination, departure time, trip status and estimated arrival time.

The link is time-limited and cannot be shared, ensuring information remains accessible only to authorized individuals. The system also follows all applicable data protection requirements.

Supporting chick welfare with better preparation

According to Dutkevicz, the new system addresses one of the most common customer needs: predictability.

“Customers often contact drivers directly to check on delivery timing, which isn’t always practical,” she explains. “Now, they have reliable, structured information available instantly. That makes it much easier to organize their teams and prepare for chick placement.”

Clear visibility of arrival times allows farms to prepare houses in advance, ensure teams are ready and confirm that environmental conditions are properly set before chicks arrive. This preparation supports improved chick welfare by helping birds transition smoothly from hatchery to farm and settle quickly into a stable, comfortable environment.

Driving smarter field processes in poultry production

Delivery monitoring is the first step in a broader plan to strengthen digital tools in the field. Upcoming improvements include sending delivery confirmation documents directly through the platform, standardizing the collection of seven-day livability data for integration into the system, and continuing to improve data capture to support better planning and oversight.

“Our vision is to create a connected system of information, with chick traceability and clear performance indicators that help both our customers and our teams make informed decisions,” Dutkevicz added.

For Leandro München, Operations Director for Aviagen in Brazil, the initiative reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to “breeding success together.”

“We are investing in solutions that bring clarity, security and predictability to chick deliveries,” he says. “This is about strengthening relationships, supporting improved chick welfare from the very start, and ensuring every customer receives their shipments with full visibility and confidence.”
